Double Standards is a Jazz band with a twist. Four talented musicians from Derby combine guitar, drums, bass and vocals to create the perfect jazz experience to accompany your event. They have merged the gap between Jazz Standards and Post Modern Jukebox to create a balanced selection of the two, whilst giving it a unique sound that stands out from the rest.

If you want a jazzy solo, this guy's your man. Christian is our self proclaimed 'professional bagel baker' and leader of the gang. He balances us, being a music teacher and of course his lovely family of 3! We are lucky that his training gives him talents in creating jazzy arrangements and making our musical ideas a reality! It also helps that he's pretty good at playing the guitar too, but we're not biased. With a huge love of all things jazz, 'Double Standards' was the best way to combine his drive to perform and create the music that he loves. We are very lucky to have him!
Hayley
Vocals
After training in music and musical theatre she started her solo journey as a vocalist. But thanks to a very successful first jam session and a lot of persuasion (almost non at all) she agreed to join us. Alongside singing she's also a dance teacher and very enthusiastic children's entertainer. So as you can imagine any opportunity for a costume is 100% welcome! All of this means that she can match the moods of our songs with her beautiful vocals and character, tieing together our sound as a quartet. We can't wait for you to hear her!

'Every band needs a joker and we definitely have one in Dennam! Bringing the depth and soul to our jazzy sound, this guy is the master of the bass. After finishing his role as an electrical engineer, he dedicated his life to music and has never turned back! He claims that the bass is his 'first love' and truly believes that when he found his craft and discovered the joy it brought him; he really started to live!! You may have seen him on the Derby music scene before in his band 'R. U. Regae' and many a open mic! Although it means he's prone to a sneaky genre change in rehearsal, we do feel lucky he came to join us on the jazzy side of life. He's great'

Paul is a telephone engineer by day and drumming sensation by night. As the pulse of the band and most experienced at his instrument, Paul is always ready to add some drama with the sizzle of a symbol! From the age of 7, he has been behind a drum kit so we feel very lucky to have him behind ours!
It's crazy to think if it hadn't been for a football and a few missing teeth he may have been destined for a life playing the recorder. Luckily after swapping his genre from rock and roll to smooth jazz, we think we might have converted him for good. That's great for us too because we really love having him around.
